beatles themed cakes and cupcakes
These Beatles themed cakes and cupcakes were a pleasure to do, as that meant listening to tunes to get me in the mood! The drum kit and cupcakes were to celebrate a 60th birthday for a hard core Beatles fan. The vintage record player was especially fun because it was for a former employer's step daughter Devon's sweet sixteen and he trusted me to come up with something fun for her. He told me she really wanted a record player for her birthday, so I suggested the vintage Beatles' player for the cake! Both record players were a hit, I was told a few days later.
:D
hello kitty cake & cupcakes
Hello Kitty themes are one of the most adorable to do. The cake was for a 21st birthday and the birthday girl wanted a princess theme as well as Hello Kitty. We decided on a having a mini Hello Kitty princess sitting on the cake. The cupcakes were for another Hello Kitty fan ordered as a surprise by a friend of hers. She requested one special cupcake with Teresa's name on it.
coco & lowe launch
This cake and matching cupcakes were done for the most fabulous ladies at cocoandlowe. They launched their blog last year and had prettysweet do the cake and cupcakes for it. Coco and Lowe love bows (it's part of their logo), so obviously bows had to be on the cupcakes! Their birthdays are coming up also (Lowe tomorrow and Coco on Sunday) so I'll obviously making some prettysweet cupcakes for the par-tay @ lobby!Stay tuned for info on the launch (fall 2009) of their fully loaded site including all the fun stuff on the blog now as well as an online store with exclusive Coco & Lowe items (ahem...including something prettysweet).....:D
from to to ny to to...
This was another order that was SO fun to make! Yes, I know I say that a lot, but they're all fun to make, really. The cake was ordered by the bride's friend. The bride had re-located to new york and met her hubby to be, but was having the engagement party here in Toronto. So, what the bride's friend had in mind to do was make a cab from both NY and TO with the bride & groom waving goodbye. She sent me a pic of both the bride and groom so I could make cartoony type stick figures that would be somewhat accurate. Since it was a fairly large party, we also created cupcakes to go along with the theme (I love doing this, as you'll see...) so there were a number of "I [heart] NY" and "I [maple leaf] TO" as well as more city specific things like the NY train lines she takes (the 7 & the 2), the Brooklyn Bridge, a big apple, Lady Liberty's crown, the Skydome (Rogers Centre), and the TTC logo. The bride and groom were both really happy!:D
